Hoi! Mijn naam is Chanel en ik ben 22 jaar. Ik ben geboren en getogen in Groningen. Ik heb ervoor gekozen om in de stad te blijven en om Sociaal Juridische Dienstverlening aan de Hanzehogeschool Groningen te studeren. Inmiddels zit ik in het laatste jaar van deze studie. Tijdens mijn studie heb ik ervoor gekozen om lid te worden van een studentenvereniging. Dit jaar zit ik in het bestuur van studentenvereniging Albertus Magnus en bekleed ik de functie Vice-Praeses.
Albertus is de grootste studentenvereniging van Groningen. De vereniging biedt studenten de ruimte om zichzelf te ontwikkelen en uit te dagen. Daarnaast is Albertus een plek waar iedereen zichzelf kan en mag zijn. We besteden onder andere veel tijd en aandacht aan het studentenwelzijn. Zo worden er dagen georganiseerd waarbij mentale gezondheid voorop staat en is de drempel naar een vertrouwenspersoon erg laag.
Ik zou het mooi vinden om te zien dat de Hanzehogeschool Groningen de ‘actieve student’ meer zal promoten. Dit kan door meer mogelijkheden te bieden om je als student te kunnen ontwikkelen of de student meer tegemoet te komen in bijvoorbeeld de studielast. Je kunt je immers op zoveel gebieden naast je studie ontwikkelen!

Hi, my name is Chanel and I am 22 years old. I was born and raised in Groningen. I chose to stay in the city and study Social Legal Services at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen. I currently am in the final year of my study. During my studies I chose to become a member of a student association. This year I have a seat on the board of student association Albertus Magnus and hold the position of Vice-President.
Albertus is the largest student association in Groningen. The association offers students space to develop and challenge themselves. In addition, Albertus is a place where everyone can and may be themselves. Among other things, we put a lot of effort and time into student welfare. For example, we organize days where centered around mental health and our confidant is easily accessible.
I would love to see Hanze University Groningen promote the ‘active student’ more. This can be done by offering more opportunities to develop as a student or offer more compensation to the student, for example, in the study load. After all, you can develop in so many other areas besides your studies!
